In 2021, the levels of benzo(a)pyrene at all urban monitoring sites reached the target value. Annual trends of benzo(a)pyrene levels show that the highest levels are measured during the heating season. In summer, levels are significantly lower at all locations.

In 2021, the annual levels of arsenic, nickel, cadmium and lead in urban monitoring sites were lower than the prescribed limit or target value. In Žerjav in the Upper Mežiška valley, high levels of arsenic, cadmium and lead throughout the year are mainly related to the operation of the surrounding industry. Average annual values ​​of arsenic and cadmium at the Žerjav monitoring site are higher than at other monitoring sites, but do not exceed the prescribed quality standards. In 2021, however, the limit value for lead was exceeded for the first time since 2009, when we have been carrying out measurements in Žerjav.
