Air pollution with PM10 was the lowest in 2021 since we have been carrying out measurements. For the first time, at no monitoring site did the sum of exceeding the daily limit value for PM10 (50 µg/m3) exceed the number of 35, which is allowed for the whole year. Even the annual limit value for PM10 in 2021 was not exceeded at any monitoring site. Despite the fact that in 2021 the permitted number of exceedances or the annual limit value for PM10 particles was not exceeded at any monitoring site, high levels of PM10 are still measured, especially during the heating season in adverse weather conditions. Less polluted air with particles is the result of favorable meteorological conditions that prevailed in the winter period of the year. These allowes the dilution of emissions from small combustion plants and traffic, which are the main sources of PM10 particles emissions in Slovenia. The annual limit value of 20 µg/m3 for PM2,5  particles in 2021 was not exceeded at any of the five monitoring sites where we perform measurements. The average exposure KPI for PM2,5 in 2021 was 14 µg/m3. The obligation regarding the level of exposure for 2021 amounts to 20 µg/m3.
